At 吃瓜网, we believe education thrives when it connects classroom theory with real-world application. A remarkable example of this philosophy was recently put on display with the "Eventful Evening 鈥� Ehaaraai Mihaaru," an initiative thoughtfully organized by students of our Bachelor of Psychology programme. As a core component of their coursework for the Psychology of Adult Development and Ageing module, this special event was designed to celebrate and engage community members aged 50 and above in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
The January 2023 intake of our Bachelor of Psychology programme masterfully transformed the event space, taking guests on a nostalgic journey through time. The venue was creatively sectioned into three distinct eras, each reflecting the unique charm and spirit of the 1950s, the 1990s, and the 2020s. This immersive theme provided a wonderful backdrop for connection, conversation, and shared memories, creating a bridge between past and present for all who attended.
The evening was filled with a diverse range of activities, thoughtfully designed to bridge generational interests. Guests enjoyed a wonderful mix of old and new, including beloved traditional Maldivian games like Ohvalhu Gondi and Fas Oh, which brought forth fond recollections and friendly competition. The musical entertainment was equally engaging, spanning the decades with activities that included a challenge to play a song on a musical keyboard, known as 鈥淟avaeh Kulhelamaa,鈥� and the modern, fast-paced fun of the Piano Tiles game.
The true measure of the event鈥檚 success, however, was in the atmosphere of shared joy and connection that filled the room. The smiles, laughter, and enthusiastic participation from every guest highlighted the students' achievement in creating a warm, inclusive, and genuinely memorable occasion. It was an evening where learning, respect, and fun converged, leaving a lasting positive impression on both the participants and the student organizers.
The "Eventful Evening 鈥� Ehaaraai Mihaaru" stands as a testament to the dedication of our students and the value of our curriculum's focus on experiential learning.
