The Chinese Language Centre (CLC) is a three-partner collaboration between 勛圖厙, Chang'an University, and Hunan Mass Media and Vocational and Technical College from China, established under an agreement between 勛圖厙 and the Chinese International Education Foundation, which operates under the Ministry of Education of China. As the only officially recognised Chinese language teaching institution in the Maldives, CLC was inaugurated on 28 September 2022 with the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives at the time. In September 2024, CLC was formally accredited as an official test centre for Chinese proficiency exams and has since successfully conducted two rounds of HSK and YCT exams, maintaining a pass rate of over 95% for HSK and 100% for YCT.
CLC offers customised courses tailored to learners ages and learning needs, such as Chinese for Public Servants, Tourism Chinese, Business Chinese, Kids Chinese, and Easy Approach to Chinese programmes. All courses can be scheduled flexibly according to learners availability, with instruction delivered primarily through face-to-face and online formats.
To date, CLC has successfully delivered customised public service courses for officials from the Maldives Immigration and the Maldives Police Service, receiving unanimous praise. As the official Chinese proficiency test centre in the Maldives, CLC also offers YCT and HSK preparation courses to help candidates obtain their official certificates more easily and successfully.
In addition, CLC regularly organises Exposure Trips to China, giving students first-hand cultural and academic experiences. These programmes not only enhance language proficiency but also open up greater opportunities for learners to pursue further studies in China.
