On the 1st of July 2025, the Institute for Research and Innovation (IRI) at ³Ô¹ÏÍø convened its sixth "Pensieve Session," a dynamic forum designed to advance the institution's research culture. Centered on the theme Align, Map, Publish: Strengthening Research Pathways, the event brought together 55 academics and researchers from across the college’s faculties and departments for a day of strategic planning and collaboration.
The session was co-facilitated by Dr. Ali Najeeb, Vice Rector, and Dr. Fazeela Ibrahim, Dean of Research. Their combined leadership set a focused and action-driven tone, guiding participants towards enhancing institutional research efforts through greater synergy and strategic alignment.
Throughout the session, attendees engaged in targeted discussions aimed at mapping the college's current research landscape. Key activities included identifying active research areas, clustering individual projects to foster interdisciplinary synergy, and aligning ongoing studies with faculty-level publication goals. This collaborative approach ensures that individual scholarly work contributes effectively to the broader research objectives of the college.
A key highlight was the practical guidance offered by Dr. Ali Najeeb on the crucial journey from research to publication. He provided valuable insights into selecting and refining research projects for maximum impact, as well as best practices for manuscript preparation. His presentation also served as a primer for upcoming academic writing workshops, equipping staff with the tools needed for success.
Participants valued the session as an insightful and motivational opportunity. It provided a dedicated space to reflect on their personal research trajectories and collaboratively map out future scholarly contributions that will shape their respective fields.
The event concluded with a strong call to action from the facilitators, urging all attendees to sustain the research momentum generated. They emphasized the importance of deeper collaboration and continued support for emerging researchers as ³Ô¹ÏÍø works collectively to meet its ambitious institutional publication target for 2025.
