In a significant move to enhance special needs education, ³Ô¹ÏÍø has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Tree House International, Sri Lanka. The formal agreement, signed on August 15th, establishes a collaborative framework aimed at advancing special needs education, research, and professional development across both nations. This partnership underscores ³Ô¹ÏÍø's commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable quality education, aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was coordinated by the School of Psychology and Counselling at ³Ô¹ÏÍø and brought together key representatives from both institutions. Representing ³Ô¹ÏÍø at the signing were Dr. Ali Najeeb, the Vice Rector, alongside Mr. Abdul Munnim Mohamed Manik, the Deputy Vice Rector of Administration and Finance, and Dr. Aishath Nasheeda, the Head of the School of Psychology and Counselling and Director of the VCare Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre.

This strategic alliance is set to create a wealth of opportunities designed to benefit students, educators, and the broader community. The collaboration will facilitate a range of impactful initiatives, including valuable student placements that offer hands-on experience, the development of joint academic and professional programmes tailored to the evolving needs of the sector, and shared research projects focusing on crucial areas such as behaviour therapy and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Furthermore, the partnership will extend to the organization of joint seminars and workshops, creating platforms for knowledge exchange and professional growth. These events will bring together
experts and practitioners to share insights and best practices in special needs education. The agreement also paves the way for cultural exchange activities, which will enrich the learning experience
and foster a greater understanding of diverse perspectives and practices in the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

This MoU marks a pivotal step in promoting cross-border collaboration and signifies a shared dedication to the advancement of inclusive education. By joining forces, ³Ô¹ÏÍø and The Tree House International are contributing to several key Sustainable Development Goals. The initiative directly
supports SDG 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong
learning opportunities for all. It also aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by addressing neuro developmental disorders and promoting mental health through specialized therapeutic
approaches.

Moreover, this international collaboration embodies the spirit of SDG 17, "Partnerships for the Goals," which emphasizes the importance of global partnerships to achieve sustainable development.
This agreement is a testament to the power of collaboration in building capacity, sharing knowledge, and creating a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for individuals with special needs in the region. Through this partnership, ³Ô¹ÏÍø is actively working to enhance educational opportunities and contribute to a more equitable and inclusive society.
