The LLM in Islamic Finance programme is designed to assist students in complementing their academic qualifications to include competency in skills that are practice orientated in the law relating to business and Islamic finance
General Entry Criteria
● A related Bachelor’s Degree OR
● A related Graduate Diploma at Level 8
Alternative Entry Criteria
● 25 years old, completion of a related Level 5 qualification, and 7 years of relevant experience (of which 3.5 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 5 qualification), and completion of an MQA approved Pre-Master’s Program.
OR
● 25 years old, completion of a related Level 6 qualification, and 6 years of relevant experience (of which 3 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 6 qualification), and completion of an MQA approved Pre-Master’s Program.

Upon successful completion, students will have skills and knowledge in the following areas
● Carry out research independently on various aspects/issues of relevant laws and keep abreast of new developments in law and Islamic finance areas.
● Learn to analyse and apply Law in tandem with common law to present persuasive interpretations and arguments in different contexts of the corporate legal sector.
● Deal with complex legal issues systematically, drawing on sound judgments.
● Demonstrate skills in solving advanced problems within legal dimension.
● Acquiring skills to understand and apply the operation of relevant International legal instruments in the commercial sphere.
● Acquiring skills to read and analyse judicial precedents from the court of law and out of court awards.
● Acquiring skills to understand and apply legal principles from different jurisprudential schools competently.
● Acquiring Islamic finance knowledge to handle the concerned dispute among the corporate and state actors.
The broader goals of the programme are as follows:
● Provide an opportunity for students to gain a postgraduate qualification in the Advance field of Law which can lead to personal as well as professional growth.
● Provide analytical and evaluative skills to examine complex settlement issues in a legal dimension and arrive at sound judgements based on relevant legal principles.
● Encourage students to build research skills to identify relevant legal principles and apply them to specific industrial situations faced.
● Engage in debates on contemporary developments in the field of out of court settlement procedures and practice that is relevant for practitioners and academics.
