The LLM in Corporate Governance programme is designed to assist students in complementing their academic qualifications to include competency in Corporate Laws and application thereof in legal practice and compliance ensuring that students have got the essential skills to pursue a career in the corporate sector.
General Entry Criteria
● A related Bachelor’s Degree OR
● A related Graduate Diploma at Level 8
Alternative Entry Criteria
● 25 years old, completion of a related Level 5 qualification, and 7 years of relevant experience (of which 3.5 years of experience is obtained after
completion of a Level 5 qualification), and completion of an MQA approved Pre-Master’s Program.
OR
● 25 years old, completion of a related Level 6 qualification, and 6 years of relevant experience (of which 3 years of experience is obtained after
completion of a Level 6 qualification), and completion of an MQA approved Pre-Master’s Program.

Upon successful completion, students will have skills and knowledge in the following areas
● Critically examine key legal principles and issues from a practitioner’s perspective warranted in a commercial and corporate setup.
● Carryout research independently on various aspects/issues of relevant laws and keep abreast of new developments in Corporate and Business Law.
● Learn to analyse and apply Law in tandem with common law to present persuasive interpretations and arguments in different contexts of the corporate legal sector.
● Deal with complex legal issues systematically, drawing on sound judgments.
● Demonstrate skills in solving advanced problems within legal dimension.
● Acquiring skills to understand and apply the operation of relevant International legal instruments in the commercial sphere.
● Acquiring skills to read and analyse judicial precedents from the court of law.
● Acquiring skills to understand and apply legal principles from different jurisprudential schools competently.
● Acquiring alternative dispute resolution skills to handle the concerned dispute among the corporate actors.
The broader goals of the programme are as follows:
● Provide an opportunity for students to gain a postgraduate qualification in the field of business Law which can lead to personal as well as professional growth.
● Provide students the opportunity to understand and learn to apply corporate Law in professional and personal life.
● Provide analytical and evaluative skills to examine complex corporate issues in a legal dimension and arrive at sound judgements based on relevant legal principles.
● Encourage students to build research skills to identify relevant legal principles and apply them to specific industrial situations faced.
● Engage in debates on contemporary developments in the field of corporate law that is relevant for practitioners and academics.
● Provide knowledge of Corporate Governance in Practice opening pathways to careers in legal compliance, dynamics of law, international relations, management and governance, legal corporate advisor among other areas.
