The LLM in Alternative Dispute Resolution programme is designed to assist students in complementing their academic qualifications to include competency in Dispute resolution skills and application thereof in legal practice and compliance ensuring that students have got the essential skills to pursue a career as Arbitrators, Mediators and negotiation lawyers with expertise in out of court settlement including litigation.
General Entry Criteria
● A related Bachelor’s Degree OR
● A related Graduate Diploma at Level 8
Alternative Entry Criteria
● 25 years old, completion of a related Level 5 qualification, and 7 years of relevant experience (of which 3.5 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 5 qualification), and completion of an MQA approved Pre-Master’s Program.
OR
● 25 years old, completion of a related Level 6 qualification, and 6 years of relevant experience (of which 3 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 6 qualification), and completion of an MQA approved Pre-Master’s Program.

Upon successful completion, students will have skills and knowledge in the following areas
● Critically examine key legal principles and issues from a practitioner’s perspective warranted in out of court dispute resolution techniques.
● Carry out research independently on various aspects/issues of relevant laws and keep abreast of new developments in Arbitration, Mediation and Negotiation or developing norms in dispute settlement.
● Learn to analyse and apply Law in tandem with common law to present persuasive interpretations and arguments in different contexts of the corporate legal sector.
● Deal with complex legal issues systematically, drawing on sound judgments.
● Demonstrate skills in solving advanced problems within legal dimension.
● Acquiring skills to understand and apply the operation of relevant International legal instruments in the commercial sphere.
● Acquiring skills to read and analyse judicial precedents from the court of law and out of court awards.
● Acquiring skills to understand and apply legal principles from different jurisprudential schools competently.
● Acquiring alternative dispute resolution skills to handle the concerned dispute among the corporate and state actors.
The broader goals of the programme are as follows:
● Provide an opportunity for students to gain a postgraduate qualification in the Advance field of Law which can lead to personal as well as professional growth.
● Provide students the opportunity to understand and learn to apply ADR techniques and corporate Law skills in professional and personal life.
