Programme Details

Introduction

Certificate 4 in Tourism and Hotel Operations provides a rich learning experience for students through a combination of knowledge and practical skills. It provides foundational knowledge and skills necessary to start a career in hospitality operations and serves as an entry route to higher qualifications. Those who successfully complete this programme will be able to enrol for the first degree in tourism and hotel management. As part of the programme, students acquire their skills and field experience at different establishments in the hospitality industry of the Maldives particularly, students will gain their skills and experiences in the areas of rooms division operations, front office and food and beverage services.

General Entry Criteria

  • Three O'Level/SSC passes with C and above OR

  • Attainment of a Level 3 qualification in a related field.

Alternative Entry Criteria

  • 18 years old AND

  • One year work experience AND

  • Ability to communicate in the language of instruction.

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will be able to;

  • Demonstrate generalised knowledge and skills in the area of hospitality and operations, and become familiar with the industry

  • Apply knowledge and skills to carry out daily routine operations in hospitality establishments in the areas of front office, housekeeping and FnB.

  • Use applied knowledge and understanding together with routine techniques, to carry out daily routine operations in hospitality establishments in the areas of rooms division operations and food and beverage services.

  • Obtain and organize information to make generalisations and suggest solutions for routine problems

  • Apply language and mathematical skills required to undertake further studies

  • Acquire critical thinking skills and research skills that are appropriate for carrying out a range of activities independently for study purposes and for workplace application
